The largest spread in the 2022 college football look-ahead lines is Alabama (-24) vs Auburn in November, while the shortest spread is a virtual pick’em between Auburn and Penn State in September.

Bulldogs Heavy Favorites vs Ducks

Georgia begins its quest to defend its National Title with a tough matchup against Pac-12 powerhouse Oregon in Week 1 (Sep. 3). The Bulldogs are being listed as heavy -17 favorites over the Ducks at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

UGA may be the defending champs, but the college football win totals suggest the Bulldogs may take a step back in 2022. The biggest concern is that Georgia lost 15 players to the NFL Draft this offseason, including several key pieces of their defense.

Oregon upset Ohio State as two-touchdown underdogs in an early non-conference game last year and will look to replicate that formula against Georgia. The Ducks underwent major change this summer, hiring Dan Lanning as their new head coach and adding Auburn QB Bo Nix.

Oregon consistently has one of the best defenses in the Pac-12, which could pose some challenges for UGA QB Stetson Bennett. While the Ducks have some key playmakers like Noah Sewell, the departure of Kayvon Thibodeaux is one of the reasons this look-ahead line is so high.

Tide Favored to Win Big in Austin

One of the other highly anticipated college football non-conference games in 2022 is a matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Texas Longhorns in Week 2 (Sep. 10). Oddsmakers have made Alabama a two-touchdown favorite in Austin in the CFB look-ahead lines.

It’s not hard to see why the Tide are favored big over the Longhorns in Week 2. Alabama is the favorite in the National Championship odds and return Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young at quarterback. Furthermore, Alabama also has the nation’s best defensive player in Will Anderson.

“To have two players that make such a significant impact on our team as those two guys, I don’t recall ever having a circumstance like that.”

This is an interesting college football betting line because Texas’ outlook for 2022 is a bit of an unknown. The Longhorns are coming off a disappointing 5-7 campaign in year one under Steve Sarkisian. Five-star QB prospect Quinn Ewers is set to make his first start in Week 1.

Alabama is always one of the most public bet teams in college football, so this is a look-ahead line worth monitoring. Considering Texas features one of the nation’s best running backs in Bijan Robinson, UT could offer some home underdog value depending on how high this spread climbs.

Buckeyes Favored to Get Revenge on Wolverines

After Jim Harbaugh finally beat Ohio State for the first time in his career, the 2022 college football look-ahead lines favor the Buckeyes getting their revenge in 2022. Ohio State is a 14-point favorite over Michigan in Week 13 (Nov. 26) at the Shoe.

Not only is OSU favored to beat Michigan, but they are also favored to win the Big Ten conference. The Buckeyes return a lethal offense that includes QB CJ Stroud, RB Treveyon Henderson and WR Jaxon-Smith Nijigba. All three elite players are listed in the Heisman Trophy odds.

Although Michigan finally beat their Ohio State rivals in 2021, there’s good reason they are priced as heavy underdogs in the rematch. The Wolverines have to replace their two best defensive players in Heisman finalist Aidan Hutchinson and All-Big Ten edge rusher David Ojabo.

Michigan’s ability to keep pace with Ohio State’s offense may come down to whether QB Cade McNamara can take another step forward in his senior season, plus the type of impact receiver Ronnie Bell can make following his season-ending injury last season.
